Apartment Description
Welcome home to NorthXNorthwest, where convenience meets luxury living. Located in Philadelphia's charming Fairmount neighborhood, just a mile and a half from Center City you can have it all. NorthXNorthwest's offers thoughtfully designed studio, 1... and 2 bedroom apartments and endless amenities such as a full-service fitness center, cozy fireplace lounge, business pods, and an expansive rooftop terrace overlooking downtown Philadelphia.
Everything is always breaking and it takes them months to fix. Maintenance refuses to fix things in our apartment because our apartment is one of the unrenovated units, so they just put bandaid fixes on everything instead of actually solving the problems.
Washer/Dryer violently shakes? Wedge a piece of wood in between it and the wall so it can't move.
Water marks on the ceiling everytime it rains? Paint over it.
Mold in the ac units? Ignore it.
Leaky faucet (that I have to pay the water bill for)? Ignore it
Shower ledge angled incorrectly so water sits and pools on the tile instead of draining? Ignore it, letting it drain into the walls.
On top of that, the garage elevator floods and breaks every time there's a heavy rain. Then it takes them weeks to fix it, so hopefully you don't have any thing heavy to carry to or from your car, especially when it's really hot out.

When things are going well this is an amazing place to live. But I feel like something is always breaking down or not working. Lately, it's been the water pressure.
Earlier this year the water was turned off for some major work on the pipes. Since then the water pressure sucks. I've put in two maintenance requests but maintenance says that they can't do anything and blamed the Brita filter I have on the faucet, which is stupid because I've been here for six years and have had the filter on as long and this is the first time the water pressure has been this awful. It gets so bad that the kitchen sink is often down to a trickle and it takes forever to hand-wash dishes or get a glass of water. The master bathroom is also bad with water pressure and there is not Brita filter there. Not sure what you guys did earlier this year, but please fix! Many other residents have had the same complaint.

The apartment is nice, but the community has definitely gone downhill.
The building hasn't had a working security system in months, and if you ask for an update you'll rarely get one. The HVAC goes on the fritz at least once a year, and this year it took them months to resolve the issue. If you need help, don't bother emailing them, you'll be unlikely to get a response. I emailed them about my curtains being inadequate years ago and was told they couldn't find replacements. Emailed them about it again a week ago and heard nothing. Good timing on this survey, I guess.
You have to pay for mail. It really feels like they're just nickel-and-diming while putting in the bare minimum.

The front desk staff is lovely. We have been frustrated with the fob system being down for the last few months. It has left the main access gate next to our townhome permanently locked and has posed a large inconvenience to us daily by limiting access to our unit. It also leaves our garage open to public access. I have reached out to the leasing office multiple times without resolution or compensation.

Maintenance Is Terrible — Good Luck Getting Your Deposit Back
First, the maintenance in this building is awful. At one point my living room ceiling started leaking. I had to use two containers to keep the water from getting onto the carpet. I submitted an emergency request on a Friday (the day I discovered the leak), then left town for the weekend. When I returned on Sunday, the leak had worsened and there were multiple steady drips that required additional containers. I submitted another emergency repair request and asked them why they ignored it all weekend. Their response was, “we left it alone because it seemed like it was getting better.” They only fixed the issue after I called the Fire Department to inspect the problem.
On a different occasion, I requested maintenance for a clogged sink. During the “repair,” maintenance somehow caused a serious leak under the sink that ruined a lot of my personal property (makeup, band aids, etc.). The plumbing was then reassembled incorrectly, which required another maintenance visit.
Maintenance also frequently marked repair requests as “complete” without performing any work.
It also took *several* months and far too many follow up requests to replace my broken washing machine. When the replacement was finally installed, maintenance damaged drywall and stained the carpet while removing the old machine. They also damaged the bifold door so badly that it became unusable.
In my bathroom, a towel bar was installed incorrectly and repeatedly fell off during normal use. I requested repairs roughly 20 times over the course of a year before it was finally secured properly.
Second, they will not return your security deposits. I was told I would receive mine within six weeks after my lease ended, but it never arrived. When I called to follow up, management suddenly claimed they had mailed it two weeks earlier but could not provide a tracking number or any proof it had been sent. They also refused to provide contact information for the “corporate” office they claimed handled security deposits. I still haven’t received it. I absolutely do not recommend this building or any Greystar property.
